CONTENT
1. Add a new product.
To add a new
product, click the 'Product-New product' menu. The product window
will appear. Then you only have to fill in the information about your product and save.
2. Modify or create a storage space.
The 'Tools-Administration'
menu allows you to modify or create storage spaces.
Modify a storage space
In the left section
of the administration window, click the + sign at the left of the 'Storage' item.

Select the desired
storage space and modify the information found in the right section of the window. Save
your modifications.
Create a storage space
Select the 'Storage'
item found in the left section of the administration window. Click the 'Create
item' button , then
fill in the information for your new storage space. Save.
3. Specify the location of a product.
ÀvosVins lets
you specify all the locations for a given product.
First open the product via the 'File-Open' menu. Then click the 'File-Locations'
menu (a window similar to the cellar consultation window
appears). The blue ovals shows you the current locations of the selected
product.
To specify one
or more locations, click an empty location (which will turn green). To remove
locations for the product, click a blue or a green location and save.

4. Consult or modify a product
Opening a
product can be performed in many ways. Once opened, a product can be modified,
deleted, and the locations can be modified.
- Click the 'Product-Open' menu.
- Perform a search, and double-click one or many products in the results list.
- Double-click a location in the cellar consultation window.
- A list of recently opened products is available for direct access under the
'Product' menu..
5. Move one or more products.
Say you want to move products around.
Close all the product
windows and click the 'Tools-Move products' (a window similar to the cellar
consultation window will appear). To move a product, click a location where
a product has been specified and then click an empty location (the product will
be moved from the current location to the empty one). If you did not select
the desired product, click the current location again to cancel the selection.
6. Modify or add tasting notes.
The tasting
notes window is related to a given product. If you want to modify or create tasting notes,
open a product and click the 'Product-Tasting notes' menu. The tasting notes window will appear.
Modify a tasting note:
Select an existing note, modify the information and validate the modifications.
Create a new tasting note:
Click the 'Create a new tasting note' button ,
fill in the information at the right hand portion of the window and validate the modifications.
IMPORTANT
: Modifications made to the
tasting notes are saved only when the product is saved.
7. Insert a new product and minimize the information to be entered.
The 'Product-New wine' menu automatically fills in information for the new
product (appellation, country, classification, color, region). You simply
have to specify the name, vintage and the price. For a Bordeaux
wine, for example, click the 'Product-New wine-Bordeaux' menu, select the appellation
from the list (e.g.:'Pomerol').
8. Modify or add appellations, types of vine, country, regions, etc.
Click the
'Tools-Administration' menu.
To modify
Click the + sign at the left of the item,
select the desired item and modify the content in the right section of the window (don't forget to save your work).
To add
Select the desired item to be created and click the 'New item' button .
Fill in the information and save.
9. Duplicate a product.
Say you want to
create a product that is very similar to an existing product. Just open
the existing product and click the 'Edit-Duplicate product' menu.
10. Specify default values for a new product.
You have the option of
specifying default values for new products. To do so, click the 'Tools-Preferences' menu and select
the 'Default values' tab.
11. Specify the number of bottles for a product.
By default, the
number of bottles is determined on the basis of the number of locations specified for a
product. If you want to manage the number of bottles by yourself, click the 'Tools-Preferences'
menu, select the 'Locations' tab and un-check the 'Number of bottles is equal to
the number of locations' checkbox.
12. Specify my own codification for the locations.
ÀvosVins lets
you specify the locations of your products textually. Click the 'Tools-Preferences'
menu, select the 'Locations' tab, then check the 'Textual location management'.
You can now open a product and specify the location (e.g. : south wall - section 1).
IMPORTANT
: Under textual location management, it is no longer possible to use the
windows that visually display the contents of the cellar.
13. How to use the find window.
The Find
window contains three tabs, each of which may be used to perform a search. To complete this operation, specify any
desired conditions and click the 'Search' button.
To be
sure that no undesired
conditions are left in one of the three tabs, click the 'New' button to clear
the Find window content before performing a new search.
14. How to use the shopping list.
Open the product
you want to buy, click the 'Tools-Add to the shopping list' and the
product will appear in the shopping
list window. You can check on the availability of a product at the
SAQ by clicking the 'Edit-Find in SAQ' menu.
If several products are open, be sure that the product to be added to the
shopping list has been selected (the header of the wine card will then appear in color).
You can also add products to the shopping list even if they are
not already entered in the system by clicking the 'Tools-Shopping list' menu. Then specify
the name of the product and the desired number of bottles. Click the 'Add' button.
15. How to perform a search in the SAQ Website.
You can perform a search for a product in the SAQ Website
using the name or the SAQ code of the product. You can: 1) click the 'Edit-Find Code/Name in SAQ' menu
and type in the SAQ Code or the name of the desired product; or 2) open a product,
and click the 'Edit-Find in SAQ' menu.
IMPORTANT :
Your computer must be connected to the Internet.
NOTE :
SAQ is the Société des Alcools du Québec, the Quebec government wines and spirits agency. The Website used
with this command is subject to modification (contact us for
additional information).
16. How to use the Web search.
Open the product being searched for, then click the 'Edit-Web Search' menu.
If several products are open, be sure that the product to be added to the shopping
list has been selected (the header of the wine card will then appear in color).
The search will be performed on the Website specified in the 'Tools-Preferences'
under the 'Preferred Websites' tab.
The Website accessed by this command can be modified ('Tools-Preferences' menu,
'Preferred Websites' tab). When you modify the default setting (web address),
you must specify the product name in the space used to make the search
